SEAPLANE LAGOON REMEDIATION

Alameda, CA

Client: TetraTech/US Navy

Seaplane Lagoon is included as part of the former Alameda Naval Air Station (NAS) Superfund Site, adjacent to Alameda, California.  As part of a long-term & broad cleanup effort for the naval station at large, Seaplane Lagoon is unique in that it received much of the waste water from the rest of the NAS.  DMS was hired to remove contaminated sediments at 2 main locations: Sites 17 & 24.
Site 17 - Located in the NW corner of Seaplane Lagoon, approximately 27,000cyd were removed.  The main CoC's were PCB's, heavy metals and low levels of Radium 226.
Site 24 - Dredging activities occured within a 200ft x 100ft area under and adjacent to Pier 1.  Approximately 4200cyd of sediment was removed.  The main CoC's were low-evel PCB's, heavy metals and pesticides.
