VIBRACORE SAMPLERS

STANDARD PNEUMATIC HEADS

Pneumatic heads are our most powerful vibracore units.  Our custom built pneumatic heads drive the core barrel via a pneumatic piston. DMS employs 3 sizes of pneumatic heads: 4", 6", 8"

ELECTRIC HEAD

The Rossfelder P-5 contains a pair of vibrator motors which operate in a contra-rotating configuration that doubles the vertical motion of the unit. Its twin cylinder housing and compact shape offers easier access to its internal parts - should, for example, the vibrator motor's wiring harness be switched between 230v or 460v current.

MECHANICAL HEAD

The Wink Vibracore drill head, is powered by a 6.5 h.p. Honda engine, generates 7,000 to 12,000 acoustic vibrations per minute and transfers them to the drill string. This action, aided by the weight of the equipment itself, mobilizes only the particles coming into direct contact with the drill rods, instead of churning the sample like conventional drilling methods do. The Vibracorer works by vibration, not by rotation or percussion, there is no need for drilling fluids, which contaminate the sample or hinder operation in severe cold weather.

GRAB SAMPLERS

WILDCO PONAR

Ponar Grab samplers perform well when taking samples of hard bottoms such as sand, gravel, consolidated marl or clay. Heavy-duty hinges and hinge pin absorb the shock of thousands of bottom impacts when sampling. When the scoops contact the bottom, they penetrate well with very little sample disturbance. An underlip, attached to the scoops, wipes away most pebbles and small cobble that would prevent the scoops from closing completely. Removable side plates prevent the lateral loss of sample when scoops are closing. DMS utilizes two sizes: 6" & 4"

GEOTECHNICAL SAMPLER

DAMES & MOORE PISTON SAMPLER - "Shelby Type"

Geotechnical investigations are performed to obtain information on the physical properties of soil and rock within a site. Our 2.5" Shelby type Dames & Moore piston sampler is used to take undisturbed soil samples which are required for certain tests such as peak shear, consolidation, swell potential, permeability and density tests. The beveled cutting edge of the Shelby tube is slightly smaller in diameter than the inside of the tube, which allows the sample to slide easily in the tube with little disturbance. The thin wall sampler is suitable for sampling all cohesive soils. The tube is pushed 24 inches with a smooth, continuous thrust.
